Chapel Services for Harry Benjamin Turner, Jr. will be held 2:00 Pm Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Gowdy officiating and Jake Knight. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Harry was born August 7, 1920 in Fort Worth, Texas he was the son of Harry and LeLa Belle (Thornton) Turner, Sr. Harry was raised and received his education in Fort Worth. During his freshman year of high school he moved with his parents to Sand Springs, Oklahoma. He later graduated from Charles Page High School with the Class of 1938. Soon after high school in 1942, he was called to duty to serve his country. Harry joined the United States Army and was later honorably discharged in 1945. After being discharged he returned to Sand Springs, Oklahoma and accepted employment with Mobley Dodson Funeral Service in Sand Springs. He worked there in various capacities for a couple of years. On June 18, 1944, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Peace OÃKief at Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Harry later enrolled at the University of Oklahoma in their radiology department and he obtained his certification as a Radiology Technician. Soon after graduation he gained employment at the Oklahoma City Allergy Clinic in 1955. Harry worked for the allergy clinic for over 30 years when he retired in 1987. Harry had several hobbies and that included fishing and being outdoors. He always loved going to Foraker and fishing with the grandchildren. Harry also had several fishing buddies which included Harry Malloy, Frosty OÃKief, David Boone and Jack Rickard. However he cherished the time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren the most in life. Harry Benjamin Turner, Jr., of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away at his home in Keystone on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at the age 89 years. Survivors are his loving wife of over 65 years Dorothy of the home, one son Larry O. Turner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, one daughter Pamela D. Williams of Cleveland, Oklahoma, one sister Lucille Champion of Wichita Falls, Texas, four grandchildren Jason, Selena, Tyler and Chris; two great grandchildren Abigail and Trent as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents Harry was preceded in death by his sister Evelyn Harris.
