Goldie Faye (Gill) Sides was born in Redrock, Oklahoma on September 3, 1925; the daughter of Albert and Minnie Mae Jewel Gill. At an early age, Goldie moved to Osage, Oklahoma and resided with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Thomas. Goldie attended school in Osage from 1930 to 1940. Upon completion of her education, Goldie worked in Osage at the Browne Cafe as a waitress and a cook until she moved to Barnsdall in 1943. Initially in Barnsdall, Goldie resided with her sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Bill Collins. Soon after arriving in Barnsdall, she accepted employment with Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Goldie was married to Sherman Collins on July 29, 1946 in Independence, Kansas. The couple had two sons, Stephen and Roger. Following a divorce of Mr. Collins in 1963, Goldie moved to Lodi California. In 1970, she met and was later married to Buford Sides on August 31, 1972 in Stockton, California. The couple moved to Cleveland in 1973 and then in 1979 made their home in Bartlesville. Goldie continued to reside in Bartlesville until the passing of Mr. Sides in 1985 and later returned to Barnsdall where she lived until for health reasons moved to the nursing home. Goldie was saved at an early age and continued to praise her Savior, Jesus Christ her entire life as a member of the Pentecostal faith. She spent most of her life taking care of the elderly as a caregiver. She worked for several years for Eldercare, Inc. in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She went to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Heritage Villa Nursing Center in Bartlesville at the age of eighty-six. Goldie is survived by two sons and their wives, Stephen M. and Mary Collins of Ochelata, Oklahoma and Roger Allen and Helen Collins of Grove, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Gill; mother, mother, Minnie Mae Jewel Gill; brother, Dale Thomason; and five sisters, Lucy Lee (Gill) Collins, Elsie Anthon, Carol Ann Wycoff, Audrey Baker and Linda Mitchell. Graveside services will be held at the Osage Cemetery with James W. Rowe officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
