Glen Burr, Sr.

Funeral services for Glen Burr, Sr. will be held 2:00 pm Monday, December 28, 2009 in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Edens officiating. Private burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Glen was born on July 4, 1943 he was the son of Pearl and Rutha Mae (Blagg) Burr As a young boy Glen grew up in Hannah, Oklahoma. At the completion of his education Glen moved to California in the 1960ís. He gained employment with the local farms in Bakersfield where he worked for several years. In 1965, Glen returned to Tulsa and accepted employment with Oklahoma Steel Casting. Glen worked in the maintenance department for over 27 years when he retired in 1993. In 1996, Glen moved to Cleveland to his current home where he has continued to reside. Glen enjoyed spending his time outdoors especially fishing for crappie and hunting. Glen passed from this life at his home in Cleveland, Oklahoma on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 66 years of age. Survivors include his wife Virgie Benjamin of the home; two children Glen Burr, Jr. and his wife Tricha of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Carol Burr and her husband Chris of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers Bob Burr of Hodgins, Oklahoma, Jerry Burr of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one sister Barbara Ogle of Blackburn, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; special friend Eddie Sprigs of the home as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Pearl Burr, mother Rutha Mae Burr, one daugher Glenda Kupp; six siblings Leon Burr, Geneva Katherine Burr, Doyel Burr, Dorothy Burr, Bill Burr and Larry Burr.
