Geraldine ìJerryî Maybelle Carrington-Kemper was born in White Oak, Oklahoma on July 20, 1923. She was the daughter of Harry E. and Edna M. ìSmithî Moser. Jerry moved frequently during her childhood as her father was a boilermaker and traveled across the United States working. She attended thirteen schools during one school year; as well as numerous other schools during her education, finally graduating from high school in East Chicago, Illinois. Upon graduation from high school in 1941, Jerry worked for the telephone company in the Chicago area for a short time before moving to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was married in 1954 to Wayne J. Carrington at Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their initial home in Tulsa and then moved to Claremore where they continued to reside until the death of Mr. Carrington in January 1983. The couple had two girls, Sandy and Mona. Jerry was employed for many years as an executive secretary for North American Rockwell. On July 14, 1984, Jerry was married to Chuck Kemper at the Chapel of the Fountains in Las Vegas, Nevada and they established their home in Cleveland, Oklahoma and became members of the First Assembly of God Church. Chuck preceded her in death on March 25, 1997. Jerry remained active in her church throughout her time in Cleveland; weekly preparing meals for her Pastor, Dan Edens and his wife, Anna. She was an excellent cook and was involved in nearly every aspect of the church kitchen, preparing meals for church functions as well as funeral dinners. Even as her health deteriorated and she was unable to work in the kitchen at the church she would have items brought from her home to the church whenever needed. Jerry was a member of the Oklahoma Womenís Bowling League and the Happy Homemakers. She enjoyed surf fishing on the coast , loved to cook and bake, oil painting, ceramics, quilting, playing bridge and cards of any kind, crocheting, and gardening. She was an avid reader, especially enjoying Louis LíAmour books and loved watching Tom Selleck in ìMagnum P. I.î Jerry so loved her girls, Sandy and Mona who were her best friends. She also loved her boys, Paul and Cliff and all her precious grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes involved playing cards with her grandkids, cooking and watching football. Her cooking and baking skills where known throughout her family, church family and friends, although on one occasion she made a Zucchini Pie for Jacob on his birthday which did not turn out so great. When asked about the pie, Jerry commented that she got the recipe from Anna. Jerry has been a resident of the Cimmaron Pointe Care Center for the past three years. She moved to her heavenly home on Friday, September 12, 2014 at the age of ninety-one years. In addition to her two husbands, Jerry was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson, Cooper Shay Brisbin. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Sandy and Cliff Woods of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Mona and Paul Brisbin of Cleveland, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Gena and Chris Price, Caz and Jennifer Kupinski, Jared and Karin Brisbin, Jacob and Stephani Brisbin and Paul Brisbin; thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Edens officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
