Gerry started off the New Year with a bang! She left this Earth for her Heavenly home on January 1, 2021, where she was welcomed by her Heavenly Father, her beloved James, and several other loved ones.
Gerry was born on October 20, 1936, in Bakersfield, California, to Lonnie and LaTherial Resecker. She was the third of six children. When she was two years old, the family moved back to Gore, Ok. She attended Gore public schools, where she graduated on May 19, 1955. The very next day, she married the love of her life, James Henderson. They had four children, Janet, Mike, Keith, and Mickey. When they married, their dream was to have a farm where they could raise their family and cows and chickens. Eventually, they bought their farm in Terlton, Ok. This is where they raised their family and built their dream home themselves. She and James loved their farm and built a life they loved there. She lived on the farm for three more years after James passed away. When she decided she could no longer take care of it by herself, she sold it and moved to Sand Springs. She lived there until she moved to Guthrie in 2016.
For most of Gerry’s life, she was a homemaker and an excellent cook! For a while she worked at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa. After her kids were grown, she went to work at Cleveland Area Hospital as their purchasing agent. She also worked on the Terlton Election Board for many years. This was a job she enjoyed very much. The job she absolutely loved the most and was the best at was that of being “Mema” to her 6 grandchildren and seven great grandkids. Her grandkids loved spending time with her where they knew she would spoil them and feed them whatever they wanted, even if it was Pepsi and ice cream for breakfast!
She was an avid quilter and was known for her beautiful quilts. She hand quilted every one of them. Recently, she would make lap quilts and take them to local nursing homes to give residents and veterans at Christmas. Gerry also enjoyed gardening and growing tomatoes, which she shared with family and friends.
Gerry was a loving wife, mother and Mema and will be missed greatly by all those who loved her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James, parents, Lonnie and LaTherial Resecker, sister Wilma Jean Evans, and a brother Marvin Resecker.
Survivors include her children Janet Hudson and husband Tom of Guthrie, Mike Henderson of Sand Springs, Keith Henderson and wife Tina of Sapulpa, Mickey Henderson and wife Susan of Talala and David Wilson of Skiatook, Ok who she loved like a son. She is survived by her grandchildren Jamie Hudson, Jenna and Jared North, Johnny and Casey Hudson, Jimmy and Sheri Henderson, Dillon Henderson, and Jake Henderson. Great grandchildren Nathan Ames, Payton, Connor, Brooke, and Morgan Henderson, Justice Giefer, JD Hudson, and 2 on the way. Additionally, Gerry is survived by her sister Rita Prophet and husband Gary Sunby, brothers Lonnie Resecker Jr. and wife Barbara, John Resecker and wife Mary Ann; sister-in-law Jackie Resecker, and special sister-in-law Maggie Baumann and husband Ed as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
