Geraldine Gilbert

Geraldine Gilbert passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years and six days. Gerry was born on September 22, 1929 in Baytown, Texas. She was the daughter of Loyd Melvin and Era Inez (Oliver) Phillips. As a young girl Gerry grew up in Texas and received her education in Coweta as well as Tulsa where she attended Central and Monroe Schools. After the completion of her education Gerry was united in marriage on April 9, 1947, in Coweta, Oklahoma to Robert Edward Lee Gilbert. The couple made their initial home near Porter, Oklahoma before moving to Tulsa. In 1964, Gerry and Robert moved to the Terlton area where she has continued reside. Gerry worked for a short time at Munsingwear in Hominy, Oklahoma. After the death of Robert in 1984, Gerry worked at Doyleís for a period of time. Gerry was a lady that was able to fix anything. She was usually the only one able to keep the tractor running during her young years. Gerry loved to travel as well as enjoyed playing the guitar, keyboard and listen to music. Gerry had numerous humming bird feeders and if you were sitting outside visiting you could often get very close to them as they would come in to feed. She also had a venture raising cockatiels and parakeets for a short time. Most of all in life Gerry loved her family and grandchildren. Survivors are her companion Bill David, children Larry Gilbert of Terlton, Oklahoma, David Gilbert of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Danita Gilbert of Terlton, Oklahoma, sister Barbara Baumgart of Roswell, New Mexico, Louise Morton of Alvin, Texas; ten grandchildren Patricia, Larry, Gary Dwayne Jr. "Chooch", Lisa, Justin, Johnny "JR", Clint, Missy, Jason and Matt; eleven great grandchildren Shelby, Kelby, Jennifer, Hayley, Hunter, Robert, Bryce, Aaron, Jesse James, Gus, and Blaine as well as a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. In addition to her parents; Gerry was preceded in death by her husband Robert Edward Lee Gilbert, son Gary Dwayne Gilbert and sister Monte Hubbell. Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include her grandsons Chooch, JR, Larry, Clint, Jason, Matt and Justin
