George Clarence Leaverton, 71, of Prue, Oklahoma, died Monday, May 7, 2018, at the Pawhuska Hospital.
George was born June 8, 1946, in St. Joseph Missouri. He was the son of George Washington and Lenora Ellen (Howard) Leaverton. George grew up and attended school at St. Patrick and later to Christian Brothers High School where he graduated. Shortly after high school George Joined the United States Navy. On April 12, 1969, George was united in marriage to Sharon Mae. George was later honorably discharged and returned to the St. Joseph area. He worked in the construction business before moving to Tulsa in 1983. George later began working for Bumper Service. He has also worked for Bundy which was later T-Town Bumper. In 1990, he and Sharon moved to Prue where he has continued to reside.
George loved going mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. George liked fishing listening to the St. Louis Cardinals on the radio as well as going to family dinners.
Survivors include his son Melvin Leaverton of Prue, Oklahoma, three sisters Helen Shaw of Talala, Oklahoma, Mary Routon of Ozark, Missouri, Clarissa “Kate” Thompson of Owasso, Oklahoma and many other relatives friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon and a son Troy.
