Geneva Dorothy Mccutchen

Geneva Dorothy McCutchen passed away June 2 at Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, South Carolina following a brief illness. She lived in Cleveland and the Keystone Lake area for many years and spent the last three months in South Carolina.

She was born June 8, 1921 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Walter Hugh Fuzzell and Maggie M Scott. She was raised and attended schools in the Norman, Oklahoma area and was married one week after the attack on Pearl Harbor to C. C. "Mac" McCutchen in Altus, Oklahoma. He was serving in the armed forces, having enlisted the previous year. To this union were born two children, Betty and Walt.

Geneva worked as a telephone operator for several years while Mac was serving in the U.S. Army in World War II, the 45th Division during the Korean War and attending the University of Oklahoma Law School. They later lived in Bartlesville, Oklahoma City and Tulsa before moving to the Keystone Lake area in the mid-1970's.

After Mac passed away in 1984, she later married A. L. "Pete" Rucker of the Keystone Lake area who had lost his wife, Dorothy. They made their home in Cleveland until he passed away in 1998. She later moved to the Baptist Village. Geneva was a very active, compassionate and outgoing person who was a friend to all. She was affectionately referred to by her grandchildren as the "Go Go Granny" because of her active lifestyle.

She was also preceded in death by her mother, Maggie, in 1945; her father, Walter Hugh, in 1968; and her sister, Bonnie Layson, in 1991. She is survived by her daughter, Betty and Leroy Wilkerson of Cleveland; her son, Walt and Dena McCutchen of Lexington, SC; five granddaughters, Stephanie Lucente and Natalie Stewart of Cleveland, Melanie Allen of Tulsa, Marla Shaw of Owasso and Sarah McCutchen of Tulsa; two grandsons, Bryce and T. K. Wootten of South Carolina, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson in addition to Pete's daughters, Judy Rucker Susoeff and husband, Allan, of California and Connie Rucker Ellison and husband, Bill, of Flint Creek along with numerous neices, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Geneva was a long time member of Westport Baptist Church and later transferred her membership to Western Heights Baptist. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 7 at the Chapman-Black Chapel. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery under direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
