Funeral services for Garry Lee Davis of Cleveland, Oklahoma will be held 10:30 am, Thursday, May 31, 2007 in the Sanctuary of the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dan Edens and Rev. Dale Gowdy officiating. Burial will conclude in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.

Garry was born October 18, 1943 in Cleveland, Oklahoma the son of Cecil F. and Nadine Roberta (Burba) Davis. As a young man Garry grew up and attended school in Cleveland graduating with the Class of 1961. While Garry was in school he was very active playing baseball and was tremendous pitcher. During this time he also worked at Spurlockís A1 Gas Station. Garryís first job was at the ice plant across from the swimming pool working evening and weekends. While employed at the ice plant that drew Garry to the pool which he would frequent on numerous occasions. After high school Garry started his career with his uncle in California. After returning from California enjoyed the auto business so much that he began working at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. on 3rd and Denver. He continued working there installing brakes and general car repairs for several years. On September 26, 1964, Garry was united in marriage to Donna Lou (Alburty) in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

February of 1966, Garry entered into the service of his country with the United States Army. He was initially stationed at Ft. Campbell. Upon his completion of basic training, Garry entered jump school and was apart of the 101st Airborne Division. Garry enjoyed parachuting so much that he would often volunteer just so that he would be able to jump. After the completion of jump school, Garry was then assigned to a division of the Green Beretís at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While on active duty Garry received the following medals: the National Defense Service Medal and the Parachutist Badge. February 15, 1968, Garry was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and at that time Garry and Donna returned to the Cleveland area.

After Garry and Donna returned he started working for Firestone again and worked at the 41st Street location as well as the one in Sands Springs. While working for Firestone Garryís duties included managing the stores and overseeing numerous employees as well as sales. Garry then purchased the Spurlock A1 Service Station in Cleveland. He continued to operate the station and soon expanded the operation to the old Chrysler Dealership on Caddo. He named the business Davis Tire and Auto. After some time Garry expanded once again and began carrying NAPA Auto Parts. In the late 1980ís, Garry closed his operation. He then accepted a position with the Dana Corporation as a sales representative for NAPA Auto Parts. Garry traveled all of Northern Oklahoma and Northwestern Arkansas. Garry was repeatedly called to take a location and return it to profitable store time and time again. For the past three years, Garry was working for Genuine Parts Corporation a division of the Dana Corporation.

Garry enjoyed fishing and playing golf. However, Garry had a passion for his Honda Gold Wing. Garry purchased his first touring motorcycle in 1990 and was then bitten by the riding bug and in 1997; he and Donna purchased their first brand new Gold Wing. Garry and Donna loved spending their time traveling on their Gold Wing. They would often take day trips as well as short weekend trips with their friends. Garry and Donna have traveled to over 24 states as well as into Mexico on their Gold Wing. Garry was the tour guide he make the travel plans and get all accommodations set up for everybody to have an memorable and enjoyable vacation event.

Garry went to be with his Lord and Saviour Saturday May 26, 2007 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 63 years 7 months and 8 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother and an infant brother Roger Leon.

Survived by his loving and devote wife of over 42 years Donna of the home; one son, Tim Davis and his wife Lori of Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will include Larry Hall, Larry Eastman, Tom Tisher, Jim Alburty, Gary Edgerton, and Bill Perry.
