Franklin Monroe Horine passed away on June 17, 2024, at the Claremore Veterans Center in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 91. Frank was born on May 17, 1933, in Wynona, Oklahoma, the son of Troy P. and Alma (Cook) Horine. Frank grew up in Hominy, Oklahoma, attended school in Mound Valley, and completed his education at Hominy High School. Frank began working for National Zinc Company in Bartlesville following high school and later joined the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He served his country, returned to the US, and was stationed at Shephard Air Force Base. On January 3, 1954, Frank was united in marriage to Connie Louise Adams in Cleveland, Oklahoma. During Franks's time in the Air Force, he was also a part of the US Air Force football team. He played with many notable NFL players during that time. In 1957, Frank was honorably discharged, and he and Connie returned to Cleveland, Oklahoma. Frank began helping his father in roofing before becoming a Cleveland Police officer. After a short time as a police officer, Frank formed Horine Construction. Frank was instrumental in building many houses and businesses in the Cleveland, Hominy, and Keystone Lake areas. In the late 1980s, Frank began working as security at the Yorktown High Rise in Tulsa. During his time there, Frank met many people and longtime friends. After his retirement, Frank continued working, tending to his cattle and farm.
Frank enjoyed cooking, smoking meat, and selling watermelons. He always liked spending time with his grandkids and going to Branson. He and Connie took many trips to Roaring River, camping, and horse races in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Frank always looked forward to going pheasant hunting in Kansas. Survivors are four children Frank Horine Jr. of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Craig Horine and wife Julie of Blackburn, Oklahoma, Cathy Gowin and husband David of Bixby, Oklahoma, Carri Hill and husband Richard of Norman, Oklahoma; two sisters Betty June Rice of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sharon Poston of Chandler, Arizona; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents Frank was preceded in death by his wife Connie.
Services will be held 1:00 pm, Monday, June 24, 2024, at the First Assembly of God Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma with Pastor David Head officiating services. Burial will be held in Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
