Frank Zeb Sperry

Frank Zeb Sperry was born January 17, 1939 in Yale, Oklahoma. He was the son of Jessie Eugene and Dorothy Mae Sperry. Frank was raised and attended school in Blackburn, graduating from Blackburn High School in 1958.

Shortly after graduation, Zeb was inducted into the service of his country in the United States Marine Corps on August 11, 1958. He served as a machinist during a four year enlistment, being honorably discharged on May 15, 1962.

Upon his release from active duty, Zeb returned to Blackburn. He then accepted employment with McDonnell Douglas Corporation and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Zeb was married to Pat Young in 1967 and the couple had two children, Ryan and Julee. After nearly thirty-two years with McDonnell Douglas, Zeb retired in May of 1994.

Zeb returned to Blackburn in 1996 to assist in the care of his mother, Dorothy. He also helped to take care of his aunt, Madge Sperry while she was ill. After the death of his mother on July 7, 1998, Zeb started to travel, a pastime he thoroughly enjoyed. He traveled extensively through the western and mid-western United States and had plans to travel to North and South Dakota in the near future. His other hobbies included wood carving, gardening and he loved to attend the horse races. Zeb was a caring person that especially enjoyed taking care of his family which was observed in the excellent way he took care of his mother.

Zeb was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackburn. Additionally, he was a member of the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW).

Zeb passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2005 in Tulsa at the age of sixty-six years, two months and nine days. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Gladys Katherine House and Peggy Irene House.

Zeb is survived by his son, Ryan Sperry of Houston, Texas; daughter, Julee Sperry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Maxine Motes of Blackburn, Oklahoma and Pauline Moore of Skiatook, Oklahoma; and three brothers, Tobe Sperry of Spavinaw, Oklahoma, Bub Sperry of Blackburn, Oklahoma and Jim Sperry of Keystone, Oklahoma.
