Funeral services for Frances Lorene Tanksley will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, May 3, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Prue with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Prue Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Lorene was born October 9, 1944 in Haskell, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ellis Whittington and Nora L. (Parnell) Freeman. As a young girl Lorene began her education in Porter, Oklahoma. She later moved with her family to Lamont, California where she completed her education and graduated from Arvin High School in 1962. Lorene was later united in marriage to Ray Everett Tanksley in Lamont, California on July 25, 1962. The couple established their initial home in Lamont where they continued to reside until 1976. In 1976, Lorene and Ray moved to Prue, Oklahoma where they have continued to reside. Lorene soon accepted employment with Kmart in Sand Springs where she managed the grill for several years. She also worked at WardÃs Cafeteria in Sand Springs; before starting to work for ArbyÃs in 1981. Lorene worked at ArbyÃs for several years before she retired in 1990. Lorene loved to work in her garden, doing crafts, fishing and most of all she loved to go to thrift stores. She would spend many hours on holidays preparing food for everyone including those in the neighborhood. Lorene was a lady that was very meticulous when she left the house; always dressed up and clothes ironed no matter where she was going. Lorene loved to play wahoo and put jigsaw puzzles together. Lorene was very family oriented and was always willing to help those in need. Lorene passed away peacefully at her home in Prue, Oklahoma, Monday evening April 30, 2012 at the age of 67 years six months and twenty one days. Survivors are her loving husband of nearly 50 years Ray of the home; two daughters Theressa Barnard and husband Kenneth of Prue, Oklahoma, Regina Hargrove and her husband Clyde of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; three siblings Leon Freeman of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Odell Freeman and his wife Pauline of Kellyville, Oklahoma, Linda Millburn and husband Ronald of Prue, Oklahoma; three grandchildren Mark Barnard, Machelle Walker, Amber Barnard; one great grandchild Aidan and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Lorene was preceded in death by siblings James Rhodes, Bob Rhodes, Earl Freeman and Donald Freeman.
