Floyd E. Wooten was born May 7, 1932 in Texanna, Oklahoma to Earl Johnson and Beulah Mae (Parker) Wooten. As young man Floyd left the Checotah and Eufaula area and established his home in Tulsa. Upon moving to Tulsa he began working at a local lumber yard. In the early 1950Ãs Floyd was a member of the Davis Brothers & Brushy Mountain Boys. The group would sing for local radio stations through out the mid 1960Ãs.
After several years at the lumber yard Floyd accepted employment with C.E. Norris. He continued working for C.E. Norris until the closure of the operations. While living in Sand Springs, Floyd gained employment with Stone Container in 1966 as a press operator. In 1979 Floyd moved from the Sand Springs area to Cleveland. He was later united in marriage to Carolyn (Buff) on April 20, 1984 in Miami, Oklahoma. Floyd worked for Stone Container operating a die cut machine until his retirement in 1995 after 29 years.
After Floyd retired you could find him at his home planting his garden, working in the yard or sitting at the picnic table under the trees with Dan, Joe, and Kelby eating and solving the worldÃs problems. Floyd and Carolyn also loved going on vacations to Branson, Eureka Springs or any place in Arkansas. But most of all, Floyd loved to fellowship with his friends, attending church and spending quality time with Carolyn, his children and grandkids. Floyd was also a faithful member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Floyd went with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 3, 2006 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years 7 months and 26 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Morris Wooten, Hazel Simms, Gene Wooten and Harold Wooten.
