Florence Margarett Crown, lifelong resident of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years old.

Margarett was born May 9, 1937, in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Edward Adam and Florence Opal (Tilson) Young. As a young girl Margarett grew up and attended school in Cleveland. Margarett graduated from Cleveland High School with the Class of 1956. Margarett was soon introduced to a young man Marion Wayne Crown, Sr. on blind date. The two were later united in marriage on December 3, 1958, in Seguin, Texas. The two initially established their home in Copan before moving to Cleveland in the early 1960’s. Margarett began working at Munsingwear in Hominy for a short time before accepting employment at Cook’s Grocery in the meat department. Margarett continued working at the grocery store for many years, where she became office manager.
She later retired in the early 1990’s from IGA.

Margarett enjoyed playing card games, reading and bright colored flowers, but she especially liked reading romance novels. Margarett and Marion always enjoyed taking the family trip to Beaver Lake. It always seemed that it was inevitable that it would always be an eventful vacation. Margarett liked rock hunting and somehow seemed to get everyone involved in her adventure. Christmas and Thanksgiving was always a family event at the Crown House. Margarett making everyone’s favorite foods as well as everybody having a good time. It was always a daily ritual for Margarett and Marion to take their daily drive which is also known as “Dallasing”. Margaret has been a longtime and faithful member of the Church of Christ being baptized at a young age.

Survivors are her husband Marion of the home; three sons Marion "Rusty" Crown, Jr and his wife Cathleen of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Charlie Crown and his wife Kerry of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Cody Crown and his wife Rikki of Collinsville, Oklahoma, son in law Dale Allembaugh of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two sisters Linda Gowdy of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Joan and her husband Bill Sneed of Cleveland, Oklahoma; brother Dale and his wife Marsha Young of Dallas, Texas; sister in law Vicki Young of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Shea, Cody II, Chelsea and Corey, Carley, Laramie, Cassie, Corey, Scott, Tori; three great grandchildren Jayden, Josie and Zane, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by father Edward Adam Young, mother Florence Opal Tilson, brothers Lee and Bob Young, daughter Sue Allembaugh.

Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at the Church of Christ, in Cleveland, Oklahoma with Robert Prater officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family on Margaret’s page online at www.chapman-black.com.
