Florence Ilene Kiser was born May 29, 1925 in Winooski, Vermont. She was the daughter of Roland and Ida Marie (Parizo) LaFerriere. Florence was raised and received her education there; graduating from Winooski High School in 1943.
Florence was later united in marriage to Richard Lloyd Kiser and the couple made their home in Michigan for many years. They moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma in the late 1980’s and continued to reside here for nearly the past twenty-five years. Richard preceded her in death on March 25, 1997.
Florence was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Cleveland and a lifelong member of the Catholic faith. She for many years enjoyed playing Bingo throughout the area including Fairfax and the American Legion here in Cleveland. She loved cats and always seemed to have one as a pet. She was extremely generous and gave to nearly every organization requesting donations, including St. Jude’s Children Hospital, one of her favorite charities.
Florence passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016 at her home in Cleveland at the age of ninety-one. In addition to her husband Richard, Florence was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clement Reginald LaFerriere and Donald Robert LaFerriere.
She is survived by four nephews, Tom, Bob, Marc and Glen LaFerriere and a Cleveland family that watched after and cared for her; Glenn and Susie Coffey and their family, Angelia and Justin Dean, Glenn Jr. and Brandi Coffey, and Joshua and Renea Coffey; and their thirteen grandchildren. Additionally she is survived by a son Barry Joseph who was adopted in 1962.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Father Christopher Daigle officiating. Following the service a private burial will be held at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
