Graveside Services for Evelyn Pearl Porterfield will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Prairie View Cemetery with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Evelyn was born February 17, 1920 in Prue, Oklahoma. She was the daughter Charles and Ludie Gay (Bradley) Earnest. Evelyn was raised and received her education in Prue. Following the completion of her education Evelyn gained employment with Kerr Glass in Sand Springs. She worked there for several years before accepting employment with Safeway. Evelyn later moved to California to seek employment. Upon her arrival she gained employment at MerittÃs a local vegetable packing house. After her move to California she was united in marriage to Leslie Porterfield in Reno, Nevada. Following nearly 40 years working at MerittÃs Evelyn retired. In 1989, she returned to Oklahoma where she has continued to reside. Evelyn loved to plant flowers. She also loved to cook and come up with her own rendition of a recipe. She would exercise faithfully daily and walk down the street quite often. Evelyn was not able to be sedentary she was always on the go. Evelyn loved to play bingo at Prue Senior Citizens. Playing bingo was one of her favorite activities to take part in at the Prue Senior Citizens.Evelyn Pearl Porterfield passed from this life on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the age of 90 years in Mannford, Oklahoma. Survivors are her son Bobby Earnest and his wife Teresa of Prue, Oklahoma, stepson Leslie "Sonny" Porterfield of Harrison, Arkansas, one daughter in law Wanda Porterfield of Salinas, California, sixteen grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandson as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Les Porterfield, one step son Cloyce Porterfield, three brothers Ben, Eddie and Glen Earnest and three sisters Gracie Bigelow, Lela Hardee and Opal Toothman
