Eugene Sanford Searcy went to be with his Lord October 28, 2002 at Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years 3 months and 11 days. Memorial services will be held November 1, 2002 at 2:00 pm at Chapman-Black Chapel with services officiated by CPT Michael Searcy. The cremains will be later buried on the family plot at Oak Hill Cemetery in Mannford, Oklahoma. The services were conducted by Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc. of Cleveland, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends and family at the Keystone Shrine Facility in Mannford immediately following the services.
Gene a resident of Mannford was born July 17, 1921 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Orvan Orville and Ethel Linda (Greene) Searcy. Gene was raised and attended schools in Los Angles, California and graduated from J. Reese High School. Gene accepted employment with North American Aviation in Los Angles soon after graduation. He was united in marriage to Pluma Anna (Leach) at Gardena, California on June 29, 1940. On May 13, 1944 Gene joined the United States Navy serving during World War II. While he was enlisted his duties were a Aviation Radio Man. On January 9, 1946 Gene was honorably discharged. Upon his return he started to work for North American Aviation. Gene and Pluma remained in California until 1964 when he was transferred to the Tulsa, Oklahoma Plant which was known as Rockwell and later became Boeing. Gene was employed for over 42 years when he retired in 1982. Gene and Pluma established their current home in 1968 when they moved to Mannford.
Gene loved the aviation industry so much that he was a private pilot owning his own airplane. During his spare time he enjoyed to be outside working. Gene and Pluma did travel extensively in their motor home yearly. Gene was a 32nd Degree Mason member of the Mannford Lodge an Akdar Shriner of the Tulsa Temple as well as a Nomad and a member of the Directors Staff.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert, two daughters Shirley, and Sharon.
Surviving are his wife, Pluma of the home; son, Ron Searcy of Mannford, Oklahoma; adopted daughter, Tammie Bruce of Mannford, Oklahoma; son-in-law, Joe Brown of Cleveland, Oklahoma as well as eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
