Eugene Gregory Smith

Eugene Gregory Smith was born January 23, 1973 in Great Falls, Montana. He moved with his family at an early age to Moore, Oklahoma; then moved to Blackburn when Ken and Cathy Brink began his legal guardians. Greg attended school in Ralston and then the Woodland school district; later obtaining his GED in 1991. While residing in Blackburn, Greg attended the First Baptist Church and also the United Methodist Church with his grandparents, Wayne and Ruth Brink.

Upon the completion of his education, Greg worked at various jobs including hay hauling and the Pawnee County Courthouse as a maintenance man. He then began his construction career as a boilermaker helper. Greg worked on numerous jobs in the pipefitting business in Mississippi and Texas. He has been residing in the Bay Town, Texas area for the past few years.

Greg enjoyed all types of sporting events including baseball, football and golf. His passion for football and baseball came from his participation in little league during his early childhood. Greg was described as a simple and happy person that enjoyed being around other people. He was very independent and loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed reading and music and also liked to travel.

Greg passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 in Baytown, Texas at the age of thirty years and three months. He was preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Jerry Smith.

He is survived by his parents, Ken and Cathy Brink of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; maternal grandmother, Katherine Carter of Foley, Alabama; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Ruth Brink; paternal great grandfather, Lester Randall; aunt, Deborah Paris of Foley, Alabama; sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Jason Reeves of Cleveland, Oklahoma; other family and friends, Jeremy and Kenneth Brink, Joshua and Alexander Brink ''Reeves'', Amanda, Mike and Blaze Allen, Martin and Trish Seward, Tandy, Josh and Jay Seward, Cathy and Josh Owen, Randy Brink; and three special friends, Heather Udall, Steve Yourist and Rhonda Yarber.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2003 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev. Orra Compton officiating. Burial will be in the Blackburn Cemetery following cremation.
