Ethelyn Ruth Dawes was born December 6, 1912, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the daughter of William Henry and Ruth (Self) Sarvies. Soon after the birth of Ruthie the family moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas. At the age of 12, the family then moved to Bristow, Oklahoma where Ruthie completed her education at Bristow High School. On March 29, 1941, Ruthie was united in marriage to Charles Omer Dawes in Abilene, Texas. Ruthie and Charlie later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prior to the World War II Ruthie gained employment with Douglas Aircraft installing windshield seals. At the conclusion of the war Ruthie worked at home doing odd jobs ironing and washing for people. Ruthie was soon reemployed in 1952, for Douglas Aircraft and continued to work for the company until she retired in 1970. Several years following her retirement Charlie and Ruthie built a home at Frontier Shores on Lake Keystone. After sometime the couple decided to move to Cleveland in 1978, and purchased their home on Hickory Drive. In the year 2000, after the death of Charlie in 1996, Ruthie moved to Claremore to be closer to her son where she has remained. Ruthie was a fabulous cook. She loved to bake and was awesome at baking a delicious ìApple Pieî. Ruthie and Charlie took many trips and vacations to Hawaii, Canada, Florida as well as taking time to visit family in Texas and the Bay City Area. Ruthie was also very proud of her time working at Douglas Aircraft during World War II and being a part of the war effort. Ruthie and Charlie served as joint Worthy Patron and Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1985. Ruthie still continued to attend meetings until she was no longer able even after moving to Claremore. Ruthie loved her family dearly and will be a sorely missed by all. Ruthie passed from this life on Monday, December 26, 2011 in Claremore, Oklahoma at the age of 99 years and twenty days old. Survivors are her daughter in law Rita Ault of Claremore, Oklahoma; step son, Donald Eugene Dawes and his wife Earlene of Bay City, Texas; four grandchildren Shanda Moren and her husband John, Leslie Kay Ault, Donnie Dawes and his wife Janet, Donna Miller and her husband Bruce; four great-grandchildren Joel Moren, Ashley Dawes, Shelby Dawes, Dustin OÃConnell as well as other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. In addition to her parents, Ruthie was preceded in death by her husband Charles Omer Dawes on December 28, 1996, son Leslie Howard Ault on August 10, 2011, three brothers John T. Lawrence, Raymond Pearl Lawrence, Willie Wayne Lawrence, one sister Mary Farha and a grandson Tony Ault in 2006. Graveside services will be held 12:00 pm Friday, December 30, 2011, at Floral Haven Cemetery with Pastor Scott Blume officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
