Ethel Mae Braden, 76, of Cleveland, Oklahoma passed away at her home on August 11, 2013. Essie was born in Keystone, Oklahoma on March 15, 1937. She was the daughter of Carl John and Ethel Melissa (Thornbrough) Peterman. As a young girl Essie was raised in the Keystone area and later graduated from Cleveland High School. Essie has worked at the Cleveland Area Hospital as well as Dr. M.L. Saddoris for many years. Essie later began working for the Oklahoma Turnpike. She worked at the Hallett toll booth for several years before transferring to Tahlequah. After her retirement Essie returned to Cleveland in 2000. Essie loved to crochet and working in her yard. She spent many hours manicuring her flowers and yard. Essie was also the biggest fan of her son Butch and grandson Chad as they competed in rodeos. However, family time was very special to her and she loved each and every minute she spent with them. Survivors are her son Butch Braden and his wife Tammy of Welch, Oklahoma, one sister Opal Leake of Keystone, Oklahoma; one brother Joe Wayne Markley; one sister in law Alice Peterman of Keystone, Oklahoma; two grandchildren Tara Crawford and her husband Kyle of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Chad Braden of Welch, Oklahoma as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Wilbert and Johnny Peterman. Graveside services were held privately on Monday, August 12, 2013 in the Sinnett Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
