Elzie Dean Gravitt

Eliza Dean Gravitt, born August 6, 1939 in Coweta, Oklahoma the son of Roscoe Elzie Gravitt and Virginia Snelson Gravitt Cook.

As a young man he grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from Will Rogers High School. He was united in marriage to Jackie Huston on August 6, 1956 in Arkansas. TO this union three children were born: Wesley, Lesley and Christie.

They moved to Harrison, Arkansas where he worked for Propane Company. They both received scholarships at Southern Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas where they resided for two years. During that time he pastured two churches.

In 1966, he returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma Later he moved to the Keystone Lake Area in Terlton, Oklahoma.

Mr. Gravitt was very creative, built his own three wheel motorcycle and traedled to many places. He also loved the outdoors, fishing, and going to gun shows.

Elzie passed away Tuesday morning, November 13, 2007 in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years 3 months and 7 days. He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Elzie Gravitt, his paternal grandparents Roscoe Franklin Gravitt and Celia Sexton; maternal grandparents Richard and Clema Snelson.

He is survived by two sons Wesley Dean of Glenpool, Oklahoma; Lesley and his wife Katherine of Cookson, Oklahoma; daughter Christie Greeno of Stillwater, Oklahoma; mother Virginia Cook of Cleveland; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harrel Jones assisted by Larry Applegate officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
