Elvin Frank Irwin

Elvin Frank Irwin passed from this life on June 23, 2022, at 71, in Mannford, Oklahoma.

Elvin was born on September 15, 1950, in Skedee, Oklahoma, the son of Lester Edward and Nellie Opal (Wilson) Irwin. Elvin grew up and attended school in Blackburn. Elvin joined the United States Marine Corps in 1970. Corporal Elvin Irwin was honorably discharged in 1973, returning to Oklahoma. Elvin soon gained employment with Champion Box Plant in Sand Springs. He retired in the early 2000s, and Elvin retired from Stone Container after 30 years. Elvin began working for the City of Cleveland in the water and sewer department, fully retiring in 2010.

Elvin always had a love for collecting old antiques and growing flowers. He never met a person he didn't like, and two people who significantly impacted his life were John Sanders and his sister Geri Pendergrass. Elvin was very proud to be a Marine and able to grow flowers. He always said he would spend less time working and more time fishing because he felt being on the water was a peaceful time. Elvin always thought of him self as a "Happy Go Lucky" person who lived a good life. One of his lifelong goals was for his kids to be saved by his Lord and Savior.


Survivors are his children Lester Edward Stout, Elvin Irwin, Jr., Jonathan Irwin, Peter Irwin, and Kelsy; two sisters, Geri Pendergrass and Linda Tims; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Elvin was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Nellie Irwin, and a daughter Shawnna Goodell.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Woodland Cemetery, with Rev. Dan Edens officiating. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
