Elmer Johnson

Elmer L. Johnson, of Mannford was born March 10, 1917 in Bohnam, Texas to Edward L. and Lena Kate (Ballard) Johnson. As a young man Elmer was raised in Breckenridge, Texas. He later moved to Ft. Worth, Texas where he began working for Consolidated Aircraft Corp. Mr. Johnson then moved to Pyote, Texas where he worked disassembling aircraft at Pyote Air Force Base at the conclusion of World War II. Elmer later moved to Hallett, Oklahoma. While residing in Hallett Mr. Johnson was united in marriage to Ruby (Parent) on October 10, 1982 in the First Baptist Church. While living in Hallett, Elmer worked as a Janitor for the Cleveland Public Schools as well as Spess Chevrolet in Cleveland. In 1994, Elmer and Ruby moved to Mannford to Brianís Village. Mr. Johnson continued to reside there until several years ago when he moved to the Cimarron Point Care Center

Elmer passed away Monday, April 30, 2007 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years 1 month and 20 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruby on July 2, 2004, several brothers and sisters and one step granddaughter.

Survived by his six children, Shirley Jean Albright of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mary LaVonne Boggs of Breckenridge, Texas; Alice Lynn Mercer of Rosenburg, Texas; Gerald Edward Johnson of Norman, Oklahoma; Carol Lee Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Elmer Leland Johnson of Ontario, California; two step daughters Jean Watts of Glenpool, Oklahoma and Barbara Harness of Mannford, Oklahoma, one brother, Charles Edward Johnson of Breckenridge, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, twenty eight step great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, nine step great great grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 11:00 am in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery in Hallett, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
