Ellen Orcutt

Ellen Sue Orcutt was born March 10, 1948, to Farris and Elouise Shipman in Alva, Oklahoma. Ellen passed from this world surrounded by loved ones on September 26, 2024.

Ellen was the eldest of 9 children. She was a loving sister, caregiver, role model, and friend to all her siblings. She attended Hallett and Cleveland schools and graduated in 1966. While in school, Ellen met the love of her life, Woody Orcutt. Ellen joined Woody in marriage on June 10, 1967. Ellen and Woody were pillars in the family, giving shelter and care to anyone in need. They moved to Gage, Oklahoma, to start their life together. While residing in Gage, they raised three children and began their home improvement business, "High Plains Siding." They were an active part of the Gage community, schools, and First Baptist Church for the rest of their lives. Ellen was a servant her entire life, and making food was one of her labors of love. We will all miss her delicious meals and sweet treats!

In the early 1990s, Ellen used her gift of cooking and baking to serve the Gage School children as their "lunch lady." Here, she served thousands of children and millions of meals and offered countless smiles, friendship, love, and prayers for all she encountered. Woody and Ellen always opened their home and kitchen table to those in need of a listening ear or encouraging words, and there was always something good to eat.

Ellen's life was a reflection of her faith in Jesus Christ. Her love for the Lord and people was evident in all she said and did. Strangers soon became friends, whether checking out in a store or negotiating a deal at one of her "gettin' places."

The Earth has truly lost a heart of gold. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Woody, mother-in-law Patricia Potts-Orcutt, father-in-law Bill Orcutt, sister-in-law Jody Orcutt, and brothers Elvin and Charlie Shipman. Ellen is survived by her children: JoAnne and Ashley Dartlon, Ben and Billie Orcutt, Luke and Anna Orcutt; grandchildren: Chelsea, Aidan and wife Brittany, Ryleigh and husband Sage, Mason, Baylor, and Barrett; great grandchildren Blake, Asharia; siblings, Jim and his wife Peggy Shipman, Sharon and her husband Tommy Parson, Thelma Campo, Linda Shipman, Martha and her husband Steve Buntin, Michelle and her husband Troy Coon; brother-in-law Jake and his wife Debby Orcutt and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ellen will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She wants us to stay together and know the Lord so we can all meet again to have dessert first!
