Ella Marie Durnberger passed into the hands of the Lord on Friday August 5, 2016 at the age of 89 years old.
Ella was born on March 6, 1927 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of George Elmer and Effie Lena (Patrick) Dawson. As a young girl Ella grew up and attended school in Cleveland graduating with the Class of 1945. Ella was united in marriage to William Alva Durnberger on January 6, 1946 in Iola, Kansas. In 1970, Ella and Bill moved to Gainesville, Texas. Ella remained in Gainesville until recently moving to Hickory Creek.
Ella was a member of the First Christian Church in Gainesville, Texas. She was an active member of AARP and enjoyed Stanford House Activities as well as a member of the Red Hat Society. Ella was also active with the Texas Delta Upsilon Masters Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and chosen as the 2010 sweetheart. Ella was a faithful member with perfect attendance since 1971.
Survivors include her two sons and their wives Lawrence “Larry” Andrew and Paula Jean Durnberger; Cody Paul and Jacqueline Susanne Durnberger of Gainesville, Texas; daughter and husband George and Wiletta “Willie” Marie Kelling of Hickory Creek Texas; two sisters Norma Weiss and her husband Don of Brenham, Texas, Illa Almy and her husband David of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; one brother J.E. Dawson and his wife Mary Jo of Mountainburg, Arkansas; grandsons Robert Kelling of Corinth, Texas, Andrew Paul, Matthew Ryan, and Michael Christian Durnberger of Gainesville, Texas; granddaughters Antje Dawn Kelling of Gainesville, Texas, Tina Jean and husband Chris Alvord of Gainesville, Texas, Lori Ann Durnberger and Kaitlyn Christine Durnberger of Gainesville, Texas, four great granddaughters Elizabeth, Victoria, Emily, Anneliese and one great grandson Aaron and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents Ella was preceded in death by her husband William A. Durnberger, one sister Stella Moore and two grandsons Aaron Lee and Andrew Paul Durnberger.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 am, Wednesday August 10, 2016, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel at 108 West Delaware, Cleveland, Oklahoma 74020. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery. A memorial website has been set up for Ella at www.chapman-black.com
