Services for Elizabeth Ann Roberts, 70, formerly of Cleveland, Oklahoma will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, September 23, 2018, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Gene Black officiating. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com.
Elizabeth was born April 6, 1948, in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Webb Jefferson and Bulah Emaline (Rainbolt) Fox. As a young girl, Liz began attending school in Cleveland later graduating with the Class of 1966. Following graduation, Liz was united in marriage and had two children Jamie and Adam. They soon moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Liz raised her two children. She later gained employment at Oklahoma Tire and Supply before accepting a position with Fadler Food. During her time at Fadler food, she met Alton Alvin Roberts. On May 30, 1981, Liz was united in marriage to Alton in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They continued to reside in Tulsa until 2001. At that time Liz and Alton moved to Cleveland where they remained until 2014. Liz and Alton return to Tulsa where they have continued to reside.
Liz and Alton loved to travel in their motorhome. They have spent time in Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Georgia, North Dakota and the Carolina’s to name just a few. Liz also enjoyed the times with her family as they traveled to Branson. Saturday shopping trips with her sisters were quite frequent. They would typically end with the husbands meeting up with them for an evening dinner. Sewing, knitting and scrapbooking was also a favorite pastime. Liz is described as a sassy and sweet lady with stubborn tendencies. Growing flowers and working in the garden was a love of Liz’s. She knew the names of nearly every type of flower. Christmas time was her favorite time of year. She was looking forward to being home for Christmas this year. After retirement, Liz volunteered at the YWCA for several years. Liz and Alton for many years bowled at Tiffany Bowl in Tulsa on the Friday night league.
Liz passed from this life on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Glenwood Healthcare.
Survivors are her husband Alton of the home, two children Jamie Jenkins and husband Brian of Bixby, Oklahoma, Adam Roark and wife Lana of Claremore, Oklahoma; stepchildren Rick Roberts and wife Michelle of Mustang, Oklahoma, Kevin Roberts and his wife Susan of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Brian Roberts and his wife Mandy of Catoosa, Oklahoma; one sister Shirley Sallee of Bixby, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by two sisters Molly Gregory and Melva Dean Cruzen.
