Edwin Leroy Procter a lifelong resident of Jennings, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Drumright Nursing Home at the age of 65. Edwin was born November 5, 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the son Curtis Edwin and Leota Adelade (Colburn) Procter. Edwin began his education in Tulsa and later moved with his family to Jennings at the age of 10. Edwin later attended high school in Oilton where he completed his education. Mr. Procter then entered into the service of his country in the U.S. Army. After completing his enlistment in the late 1960Ãs Edwin returned to Jennings and gained employment in the oil industry. On February 12, 1971, Edwin was united in marriage to Jerrie Mae (Horn) in Cleveland, Oklahoma. The couple established their initial home in Sand Springs and later moved to Jennings where they have continued to reside. While living in Jennings, Edwin worked in the oil industry and was a roustabout for B & B Roustabout Services in Drumright for many years. Mr. Procter also volunteered his time for the City of Jennings helping take care of the water supply for many years. Edwin enjoyed helping people he was a member of the Jennings Fire Department for numerous years as a firefighter and first responder. He donated countless hours during the 16 years on the department for the betterment of his community. Edwin was also a member of the Jennings City Council elected twice and serving over 5 years at his resignation in December of 2008 due to health reason. Edwin enjoyed working outdoors and collecting guitars. Survivors are his wife Jerrie of the home, daughter Cindy Simms of Owasso, Oklahoma, one sister Glenda Miller of Flagstaff, Arizona, two grandchildren Garrett and Shelby Simms of Owasso, Oklahoma. In addition to his parents Edwin was preceded in death by his brother Walter Ray Procter. Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Woodland Cemetery Chapel with Chaplain John Owen officiating. Burial will conclude in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
