Edna Marie Pickle

Edna Marie Pickle was born August 27, 1917 in Indianola, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Sam and Bertha Freeman. Edna was raised and attended school in Indianola. She was a member of the Choate Prairie Baptist Church.

At the age of sixteen, Edna married Lowell Jake Pickle on July 29, 1933. The couple made their initial home in Indianola and then moved frequently during the next forty-four years throughout Oklahoma. They had eight children, Betty, Donald, Glenn, Lowell, Jr., Raymond, Benny, Bill and Bob. After Lowell's retirement in 1976, the couple moved to Cleveland in 1977. Lowell preceded her in death on January 23, 1978. Edna continued to reside in Cleveland until 2002 when she moved to Bartlesville to be near her sons. She later moved to Arkansas City, Kansas in 2003.

Edna devoted her life as a homemaker to taking care of her husband and children. She loved sewing and quilting and especially enjoyed fishing. She passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at the Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City, Kansas at the age of eighty-six years and one month. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Betty Louise McCabe; brother, William Freeman; and three sisters, Ola Mitchell, Vinita Martin and Allie Roentz.

Edna is survived by seven sons, Donald and Carol Pickle, Cleveland, Oklahoma; Glenn Pickle, Shawnee, Oklahoma; Lowell, Jr. and Darlene Pickle, Arkansas City, Kansas; Raymond and Jean Pickle, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; Benny and Brenda Pickle, Bristow, Oklahoma; Bill Pickle, Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Bob and Jill Pickle, Bartlesville, Oklahoma; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, brother, Aubry Freeman, McAlester, Oklahoma; and a sister, Audrey Stewart, McAlester, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Lay officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
