Edith Pearl Hinchey a longtime resident of Prue, Oklahoma passed from this life peacefully at her home with family at her side at the age of 89 years 6 months and 4 days on Sunday, December 19, 2010.' Edith was born on June 15, 1921 in Sweetwater, Oklahoma.' She was the daughter of William Perry and Minnie (Herd) Yarbrough.' As a young girl Edith attended school in Erick, Oklahoma.' At the completion of her education she began helping her family to make ends meet.' She later moved to Dumas, Texas at the age of 15.' Edith began working for a couple taking care of their home and helping with the daily chores for several years.' She later moved to Texola and began working at a local restaurant.' During this time she met Alfred Ford.' The couple was later united in marriage and remained in the area.' The couple later moved to Oklahoma City due to AlfredÃs illness and Edith began working at a local cafÈ.' After the death of Alfred in the early 1940Ãs, Edith returned to Dumas and regained work at the restaurant.' She soon met Clarence E. Owen.' After a short courtship the couple was united in marriage. ' The couple then established their initial home in New Mexico where the two of them operated a hotel and restaurant combination.' Before the death of Clarence; they returned to Texola.' Later on April 17, 1949, Edith was united in marriage to Guy L. Hinchey in Texola.' The couple resided in the Shamrock and Texola area until 1953.' In the fall of 1953 the two moved their family to Sand Springs, Oklahoma.' They remained in Sand Springs until 1963 when they built their home in Prue where she has continued to reside.' Edith has been a longtime and faithful member of the Prue First Baptist Church for many years.' Edith loved to sew, work in her garden, going fishing and cooking.' She always looked forward for friends and especially family to come over to her home so that she could cook them something to eat.' Edith also enjoyed gathering vegetables from her garden to share with her loved ones.' Most of all in life Edith took great pleasure being with her family that she loved to dearly.' Survivors are her three children Linda Johnson and her husband Al of Prue, Oklahoma, John Hinchey of Hominy, Oklahoma, Beverly Childers of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one sister Lucille Hobbs of Shamrock, Texas; four grandchildren Tonya Jones and her husband Mike, Angela Burgess and her husband John, Paula Childers, Scott Childers and his wife Allison; seven great grandchildren Toryn Jones, Dalton Burgess, Brooklyn Burgess, Case Childers, Eric Edwards, Jonathon Carl Edwards, Mason Horn, three sister in laws Idella Conner and her husband Don of Vernon, Texas, Virginia Sterner and her husband John of Arapaho, Oklahoma, Juanita Hinchey of Sand Springs, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing.' In addition to her parents Edith was preceded in death by three husbands Alfred Ford, Clarence E. Owen, Guy L. Hinchey, one brother John Yarbrough, one sister Elsie Moore, a infant sister Vastalee Yarbrough as well as a infant brother Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 10:00 am in the Prue First Baptist Church with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating and assisted by Rev. Bill Lay.' Burial will follow in the Prue Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
