Edith was a person of great strength, character, and faith. A loving wife, mother, and lifetime member of the Church of Christ. Her generation has been call by many the greatest generation. Independent hard working folks that thrived through food shortage, economic adversity, wars, and still managed to raise families and help those in need while growing a great nation. That description fit Edith perfectly.
Edith was raised in a farming community and helped work the farm, but after getting her basic education she went to school and became a licensed beautician. It was a trade she applied off and on throughout her life. She always though of herself as a beautician but had many other talents. Whether it was managing a department for a large retail store in San Francisco during the second world war, make her own clothes, gourmet cooking, or working alongside her husband on their oil leases; she could do it. She had a great disposition and loved adventure. Parasailing on her 80th birthday would not be considered unusual for Edith. Although watching her fly off the of the speeding boat was stressful for everyone else.
Because of her work in beauty business it was often said she made the world a beautiful place. In reality she made the world a beautiful place in so many ways. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 5, 2019 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. She will then be transported back to Oklahoma and buried next to her husband in Osage Cemetery in Osage, Oklahoma on July 7, 2019 - 3:00pm. The family would like to thank the management and staff at Oakridge Retirement Home for the wonderful care and support she received while there and for her many friends she made there during her stay.
