Edward Adam Young passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010 in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years. Ed was born on September 1, 1915, he was the son of John and Annie (Walters) Young. As a young boy Ed grew up and attended school in Osage. After Ed completed his education he began helping his family on the farm. On May 19, 1934, Ed was united in marriage to Florence Opal (Tilson). The couple made their initial home in the Cleveland Area. At the onset of World War II, Ed accepted employment with Douglas Aircraft. Ed thinking ahead of everyone; turned one of his farm trucks into a taxi, transporting people back and forth to work as he went to Tulsa. Ed continued working at Douglas for over 20 years when he retired. After retirement Ed continued working, he owned and operated Young and SonÃs Trucking for many years with his son Lee. They had dump trucks, flatbeds and moving equipment as well as a backhoe. Ed enjoyed working in his garden and tinkering on cars with his sons and grandsons. Ed was known to cook some of the most scrumptious pies and hot rolls around. One thing in life that he received the most pleasure from was spending time with his family, which he loved dearly. He was also a longtime member of the Church of Christ. Ed had a motto to ìtreat others as you do yourselfî; if you do this problems will take care of themselves. Survivors include his three daughters Margarett and her husband Marion Crown of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Linda Gowdy of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Joan and her husband Bill Sneed of Cleveland, Oklahoma; son and his wife, Dale and his wife Marsha Young of Dallas, Texas; daughter in law Vicki Young of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three brothers Kenneth R. Young of Henderson, Kentucky, Ivan "Gene" Young of Florida, Charles S. Young of Humbolt, Kansas; two sisters Kathryn B. Young of Kilgore, Texas, Allie M. Wiles of Cleveland, Oklahoma; eighteen grandchildren; thirty three great grandchildren; one great great grandson and a host of other relatives and friends that mourn his passing. In addition to his parents Ed was preceded in death by his wife Florence Opal Young on June 7, 1984; two sons Robert Earl Young, Edward Lee Young, one brother James M. Young, one sister Mary R. Alderson, one daughter in law Jeannie Young and one great grandson Blake Allan Gowdy. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Cleveland with Brother Robert Prater officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
