Dwight Calvin Woodrell, Sr. of Cleveland, Oklahoma, age 65, passed away Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home In Cleveland, Oklahoma. Dwight was born November 9, 1945 in rural Pawnee County, near Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was the son of Austin R. and Mary Stella (Hudson) Woodrell. Dwight was an eighth grade graduate of Hallett Schools and a 1964 graduate of Cleveland High School. After graduation, Dwight began a thirty seven year career for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. As a customer technician, Dwight spent most of that time serving business and residential customers in the Sand Springs area. Upon his retirement in 2002, Dwight was soon employed by Pawnee County District 3 as a road crew employee, where he worked for nearly two years before being elected as District 3 County Commissioner. Dwight continued to serve in that capacity until health reasons was required to step down as County Commissioner in 2009. Dwight always had an active involvement in local schools, organizations and activities. He was served as Past Master of the Hebron Masonic Lodge 215 in Cleveland and had dual membership in both the Cleveland and Jennings Masonic Lodges. His service also included positions as Secretary, Junior and Senior Warden and is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Mannford, Oklahoma. Dwight was also the past president of the Keystone Camp Chapter of The Gideons International. Additionally, he is a past member of the Pawnee County Economic Development Board; and served on the Pawnee County Junior Livestock Board for nearly twenty-five years. Dwight was always involved in 4-H, Future Farmers of America and school activities, not only of his son and daughters, but of his nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He took pride in their participation in sports and could be seen in the bleachers of town throughout the area, as he followed their games. Dwight is survived by his spouse, Wanda Kay Woodrell of the home, his daughter and her husband, Kim Watts and Carl of Pawnee, Oklahoma; his daughters, Nikki Giles of Tulsa and Andrea and her husband, Paul Thompson of London, England; sons by heart, John Cox of Owasso Oklahoma and Allen Giles of Pawnee, Oklahoma. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Karen Woodrell of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two brothers and their wives, Dale and Maxine Woodrell of Terlton, Oklahoma, and Darrel and Madelyn Woodrell of Cleveland, Oklahoma; and a brother-in-law, Ed Novotony of Garfield, Kansas. His surviving fourteen grandchildren include, Amanda and Daniel Stucks, Justin Donnelly, Dwight Calvin Woodrell, III, Jessica Woodrell, Steven Donnelly, Wyatt Woodrell, Amy Cox, Grant Giles, Jasper Woodrell, Rachel Thompson, Miriam Thompson, Kenneth Cox, and Faith Watts; and a great grandson, Levi Stucks. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Terlton with Rev. Dale Gowdy and Rev. Scott Watkins officiating.
