Dorothy Virginia Peacock was born May 15, 1918 in Springfield, Missouri. She was the daughter of Warren and Maud Dobbs. Dorothy moved with her family at the age of six to the Sand Springs, Oklahoma area where she attended school, graduating from Sand Springs High School in 1937.
Dorothy was married to Bert Peacock in Sand Springs on December 24, 1939. The couple established their home in Sand Springs where they raised their two children, Doug and Carolyn. They resided in the Sand Springs/Tulsa area for nearly twenty-four years before moving to Keokuk, Iowa in 1963. In 1968, the couple relocated to Burnsville, Minnesota for nearly fifteen years before moving to Cleveland, Oklahoma in 1983.
Dorothy was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She devoted her life to taking care of her family and enjoyed cooking and was know for keeping an immaculately clean home. Additionally, she loved to sew, making many clothes for herself and family. She was an avid gardener and also enjoyed painting.
Dorothy passed away on Friday, February 8, 2002 at the Hillcrest Medical Center at the age of eighty-three years, nine months and twenty-three days. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brother, Lloyd, Vivian and Kenneth.
Survived by her Husband, Bert Peacock, of the home; one son, Doug and Susie Peacock, Cleveland, Oklahoma; one daughter, Carolyn and Frank Ash, Sand Springs, Oklahoma; four grandchldren and nine great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 11, 2002 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland with Pastor Dan Edens officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
