Dorothy Emaline Hodson Monforte passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the age of 95 years ten months and three days. Dorothy was born in Tillman County, Oklahoma on June 14, 1916; she was the daughter of Guy and Elizabeth Dollie (Lancaster) Dunlap. As a young girl Dorothy grew up in the Duncan, Oklahoma area and later moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma. On July 16, 1931, Dorothy was united in marriage to Emery Milton Hodson. The couple made their home in the Big Bend Area near Ralston, Oklahoma; before moving to Hominy, Oklahoma. In 1944, Dorothy and Emery moved to Terlton, Oklahoma where they raised their children. In May of 1951, Dorothy began working for Munsing Wear in Hominy, Oklahoma and later retired in 1973, after 22 years. After the death of Emery, Dorothy was united in marriage to Albin Monforte on December 22, 1973. Albin and Dorothy made their home in Cleveland, Oklahoma where she has continued to reside. Dorothy was saved as a young girl and lived an active Christian life. She also taught Sunday school in her younger years as well as a member of the Nazarene Church. Dorothy loved to work in her yard as well as quilt. She has made in excess of 100 quilts for her family and friends. She loved the times her family would get together for the holidays, because this gave her the ability to cook for each one of them. After her marriage to Albin, Dorothy made each of his children feel as if they were he own. Dorothy is described as the: ìhardest working woman around.î Survivors are her children Wilma Lee of Mannford, Oklahoma, Joyce Turner of Mannford, Oklahoma, Merrill and Gayle Hodson of Olive, Oklahoma, Darrell Hodson of Mannford, Oklahoma; step-children Bill and Joann Monforte of Skiatook, Oklahoma, John Monforte of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Sue and George Dietz of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Bob Monforte of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Janie and Ed Davis of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sisters Geneva Blaylock of Ontario, Oregon, Patsy Coffee of Seminole, Oklahoma, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by her two husbands Emery Milton Hodson on September 9, 1971, Albin Monforte on March 1, 2001; daughter Opal Emaline Baxter; son, Glenn Milton Hodson; four grandchildren; brother, Namon Dunlap; three sisters, Christine, Lillian, Wanda Farrely; two infant sisters and one infant brother. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Terlton Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
