Doris Lola Gerstle was born December 20, 1917 in Denver, Colorado. She was the daughter of John J. and Reba l. (Cummings) Ross. She was raised and attended schools in the Greeley, Colorado area where she graduated from high school. Doris was married to Allen C. (Sox) Gerstle on May 12, 1938 in Greeley. The couple moved to Terlton, Oklahoma on November 20, 1938 and established their home there. They had two son, Jerry Allen and John Conrad 'Butch". Allen and Doris resided in the Terlton area all of their married life. Allen preceded her in death on March 30, 1982. Later Doris moved to Okay, Oklahoma for a while before later moving to Cleveland where she resided in the Baptist Retirement Village for several years. In August of 2006, Doris relocated to the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home where she has continued to be a resident until the time of her passing. Doris actually turned her life over to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while in her kitchen at home in 1945. She sensed the presence of the Lord and accepted him into her life at that time. She then joined and was baptized at the Terlton Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years in the Church and assisted in numerous capacities. She also served as a teacher's aide in the Terlton school for a while and then worked at the Cleveland Area Hospital for nearly four years. Later she assisted for nearly a year the Pawnee County Workshop for about year. Doris was a gentle, loving and kind woman whose quite nature revealed her love of the Lord. She never seemed to get to upset and was always more concerned about those around her than herself. She made many friends throughout the Cleveland area including member of the Terlton Baptist Church, the First Baptist Church in Cleveland and the guests of the Baptist Retirement Village. She will be missed by many. Doris passed from this life on Monday, December 23, 2013 just three days after her 96th birthday.
