Donald Harold Smith passed from this life on July 29, 2022, at the age of 81 in Broken Arrow, OK.
Don was born on January 22, 1941, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, the son of Harold W. and Opal Mae (Haffner) Smith. Don grew up in Rattan, Oklahoma where he graduated from high school with the Class of 1959. In June of 1966, Don served his country in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in May of 1968. Don returned to Stroud, Oklahoma working in building of homes in the area. Don also worked in Las Vegas and Fort Hood remodeling barracks. In the early 1980's Don met Ima Jean in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Then on August 6, 1983, Don was united in marriage to Ima Jean Morgan and the couple established their home in Stillwater. Don and Jean moved from Fort Hood, Texas to Cleveland, Oklahoma where they have continued to reside.
Don and Jean always enjoyed going fishing and taking their camper to area lakes. They would usually spend most of their time at Keystone and Skiatook Lake during the summer months.
Survivors are his wife Jean of nearly 39 years, children Gary Smith of Antlers, Oklahoma, Jerri Cooper of Berryville, Arkansas, Pamela Jackson of Berryville, Arkansas, Jerry Lorett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wiley Lorett of Yale, Oklahoma; one sister Carolyn Beller of Blanchard, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Opal Smith, daughter in law Ann Lorett and grandson Donnie Lorett and two brothers Gilbert and Jerry Smith.
Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday August 5, 2022, at Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with David Head Officiating. Family has requested memorial donations be made in honor of Donald to [memorial_contributions]. Burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery - Cleveland at Cleveland, Oklahoma.
