Donald Glenn Cook, 70, of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Donald Glenn Cook was born January 11, 1940, in Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was the son of Glennwood and Ruth Merideth Katherine (Barrett) Cook. As a young child Donnie grew up and began his education in Cleveland. Donnie graduated from Cleveland High School with the Class of 1958. During the time Donnie was in school, he was very active in football, baseball and track. He held the Cleveland High School record in hurdles for many years. On November 22, 1962, Donnie was united in marriage to Beverly Jo Price in Cleveland, Oklahoma and established their initial home in Cleveland. In 1974, after the sale of Cookís Supermarket, Donnie and Beverly moved to West Texas where he accepted employment with Parker Drilling as their corporate pilot. The couple soon returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma. During this time Donnie was the corporate pilot for Oral Roberts University, Oklahoma Fixture, Oklahoma State University and Cleveland X-Ray for many years. Following a downturn in aviation Donnie moved to Cleveland in 1983 and accepted employment with Dick Conners Correctional Center. He worked there until 2003 when he retired as the Senior Case Manager. After his retirement, Donnie began devoting his time fully to his daughter Melissa. Donnie was instrumental in the establishment of the Pawnee County Workshop and served as a member of the board for many years. Donnie and Beverly have continued working hard as advocates for the disabled to make sure they received the things they need. Donnie also enjoyed helping people with their computers and networking systems. He was a former Club Champion of the Cleveland Golf Course and active member of the Church of Christ. One thing about Donnie is that he loved being around people and loved his cokes, jokes and smokes. Survivors are his loving wife of 47 years Beverly of the home, four children Ricky Cook of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Leacia Hiseley and her husband Keith of Warner, Oklahoma, Melissa Cook of the home, Aaron Cook and his wife Angela of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; one sister Jane Hall and her husband Larry of Cleveland, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren Amy Blankenship, Nathalie Bennett, Eric Cook, Jason Corbin, Brittany Short, Brooklyn Short, Makaela Cook, Marshall Cook; five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. Donnie was preceded in death by his father Glennwood Cook and mother Ruth Cook. Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, July 10, 2010 in the sanctuary of the Church of Christ in Cleveland with Brother Doug Dingley officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
