Funeral services for Donald Edward Sharp will be held 2:00 pm Friday, October 5, 2012, at the Pratwood Assembly of God Church with Pastor Steve Bookout officiating. Burial will follow in the Leroy Cemetery near Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Don Edward Sharp was born April 23, 1930, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of John Archie and Ida Viola Jane (Lindsey) Sharp. As a young man Don began his education in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Clinton Middle School and graduated from Daniel Webster High School with the Class of 1948. Following graduation Don began working at a local grocery store in West Tulsa. Don worked there for several years prior to joining the United States Navy. Upon entering the Navy on August 3, 1950; Don began basic training at San Diego, California. He was later transferred to the Point Mugu Naval Air Station. Don was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann McLeister the love of his life on July 8, 1951. Don also served time at Adak Naval Station and was honorably discharged at Moffett Field Naval Air Station on June 2, 1954. Upon his return from the Navy, Don gained employment with A & A Fire Protection. He worked as an alarm installer until his retirement in 1980. Don then began working for Crane Carrier for a short time prior to gaining employment with Tulsa Security. Then Don began working as a car porter for many dealerships in Tulsa which he enjoyed. During the time Don and Majorie had been married they have resided in Tulsa until 2007, when they moved to their current home on Keystone Lake. Don enjoyed tinkering on things of all kinds and there was nothing that he could not fix. He also loved going to garage sales and searching for that diamond in the rough. Don and Marjorie have been faithful members of the Assembly of God Church. They were members of the Woodlake Assembly of God Church in Tulsa for over 34 years. He was an usher and greeter for over 27 years. Don was very proud of his activity as a leader and commander of the Royal Rangers Post 1 in Sand Springs. Royal Rangers is a ministry to teach, reach and keep boys for Jesus Christ. Some of their adventures include outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, aquatics and field trips. Don was a current member of the Prattwood Assembly of God Church for many years. However, Don loved being with his wife, children, grandchildren and family the most in life. Getting them all together meant the world to him. Don passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Claremore, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, five months and ten days Survivors are his wife, Marjorie of the home, five children Peggy Ann Tuggle and husband Bill of Owasso, Oklahoma, Donald Edward Sharp Jr. of Altus, Oklahoma, Bob Sharp of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Stephen Michael Sharp and wife Lois of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Susan Kay Haggard and husband Mark of Claremore, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren Christy Hudson, Bobbi Farrell, Allison Sharp, Jordan Sharp, Marcus Haggard, Morgan Haggard, McKenna Sharp, Donnie Sellers, great grandchildren Cylie Hudson, Cody Hudson, Alisa Gramm, Leo Farrell, one great great grandson Koen Hines and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. Don was preceded in death by his father John Sharp, mother Ida Sharp, four siblings Lillian Chesney, Louise Chesney, Violet Sharp and Waldo Sharp.
