Dewey Bailey, Jr., Mannford resident since 1990, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2004 at his home at the age of eighty years, one month and four days.

Dewey was born May 6, 1924 in Morris, Oklahoma. He was the son of Dewey William and Mary Kelsey Bailey. Dewey was raised an attended school in Morris. Upon completion of his education, Dewey began working as a carpenter.

Dewey was inducted into the service of his country on February 25, 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He served honorably during World War II in the United States Army before being discharged on October 1, 1943 in Fort Lewis, Washington. Upon his release from active duty, Dewey returned to Oklahoma.

Dewey was married to Dorothy Marie Fanning on August 31, 1944 in Los Angeles, California. The couple made their initial home in the Stockton, California area as Dewey accepted employment as a longshoreman. While residing in California, Dewey was ordained as a minister in the Pentecostal faith, serving as Pastor in a couple of churches there. In 1970, the couple moved their family to Superior, Arizona when Dewey accepted employment was a carpenter in the Kennecott Copper Mine. He continued to Pastor churches in Arizona during their time there.

After his retirement in 1980, Dewey and Dorothy moved to Mannford, Oklahoma. Dewey loved serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and spent countless hours studying the bible. He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. He especially enjoyed hunting squirrels. His favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Dewey is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Dorothy of the home; four children, Nancy Marie Stroud of Bayside, Texas, Stanley Duawyne Bailey of Mannford, Oklahoma, Linda Gayle Aranda of Canon City, Colorado and Therresa Lynn Bailey of Mannford, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, brother, Lowell Bailey, Long Beach, California; and two sisters, Betty and Naoma, both of Oregon.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, June 14, 2004 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev, David Player officiating.
