On January 20, 2022, Dennis Grady Fields, loving husband, father and pepaw, went to his heavenly home at 77 years old. Dennis was born on March 5, 1944, in Seminole, Oklahoma to Eddie and Viola (King) Fields. Dennis along with his brother Eddie B. Jr. and parents lived in Denver City, Texas until they moved to Wynona, Oklahoma in 1952. Dennis graduated from Wynona High School in 1962 and Oklahoma State University in 1966 with a degree in Agricultural Economics and serving in the ROTC program. On June 26, 1966, in Higgins, Texas Dennis and Margaret Jan Barton were united in marriage. After the National Guard basic training in Fort Ord, California Dennis and Jan moved back to Wynona and started their ranching operation and raising their family which included Eddie Jay, Mindy Margaret and Stacy Lynn. Over the next 56 years, Dennis and Jan expanded their ranching operations, got their kids thru college, married and got to enjoy their grandchildren. Dennis served on the Wynona School Board, Osage County Conservation Board, was a founding board member of the Osage County lnterlocal Cooperative and the Tallgrass RCD Board and served as president of the Osage County Cattlemen's Association. Dennis enjoyed raising cattle and working with the natural resources on the ranch. After his retirement from the ranch, he enjoyed attending OSU sporting events, reading books and watching western movies.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Viola Fields and brother Eddie B. Fields Jr.
Dennis is survived by his wife Jan of Wynona; son Eddie and wife Chris of Wynona and their children Tailor and husband Cole Atkinson of Pauls Valley, OK, Jacie Fields of Stillwater and Tristan Fields of Wynona; daughter Mindy and husband Greg Mahaney of Tulsa, OK and their children Hayden Mahaney of Dallas, Texas and Grant Mahaney of Tulsa, OK; and daughter Stacy and husband Randy Boothe of Washington, OK, and their children Evan Boothe of Boston, Mass. and Kate Boothe of Washington, OK.
In memory of Dennis, in lieu of flowers, donations in memorial can be made to Kind Hands Home Care, 725 East Walnut Cushing, Oklahoma 74023 and/or Stillwater Medical Center https://smc-foundation.org/give/donate-now/ tribute to Comfort Care.
Private graveside services will be held in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma. Visitation will be 1:00 pm till 6:00 pm, Sunday, January 23rd at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home. You may visit a online memorial for Dennis at www.chapman-black.com.
