David Wayne Allen

David Wayne Allen, a resident of Cleveland was born June 28, 1952 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Harvey and Thelma Jean (Coffer) Allen. David was raised and attended school in Hominy, graduating from Hominy High School in 1970.

After working in the oilfields of Northeastern Oklahoma for a couple of years, David enlisted into the service of his country in the United States Army on August 17, 1972. He served as a SP4 in Germany for most of his enlistment, being honorably discharged on August 12, 1974.

Upon his honorably discharge, David returned to Oklahoma, moving to Cleveland. He then accepted employment as a roughneck for Brown Brothers Drilling. He was married to Susan Diane Fisher on November 9, 1974 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. The couple had two children, David Wayne Allen, Jr. and Amber D. Allen. David was hired working the rigs for Cruzen Drilling where he continued to work until for health reasons was forced to retire in the late 1980ís.

David was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He often could be found walking on the East Levee, near Cleveland and at the Cleveland Lake.

David passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of fifty-one years, eleven months and one day. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Blackshear.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Allen, of the home; two children, David Wayne Allen, Jr., Cleveland, Oklahoma and Amber D. Allen, Cleveland, Oklahoma; three step-children, Amy Funkhouser, Pawnee, Oklahoma, John Michael Roe, Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Ben Roe, Cleveland, Oklahoma; three grandchildren Beau and Blayne Allen and Brittany Bacon, eight step-grandchildren; and two brothers, Vernon Moura and John Allen, both of Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 2:00 pm at the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy with Dr. Larry Wilson officiating.
