David Wayne Hall passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age of 77, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
David was born on May 30, 1947, in Tulsa to Irvin E. and G. Marjorie (Grewe) Hall. He grew up and attended school in Ponca City, Oklahoma, graduating with the class of 1965. Following high school, David attended Tonkawa College and Oklahoma State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electronics. After college, David joined the US Army, serving his country for three years in Germany and Maryland before returning home to Oklahoma. He spent the rest of his career working as an electronic technician for Dresser Atlas and as a medical equipment repair specialist for Biomerioux Technologies, retiring in 1999.
In 1969, David married Mary Ann Reynolds, and they had two children, Christine and Brian, before Mary Ann passed away in 1981. In 1987, David met Cathy M. (Caver) Black, and on August 12, 1988, they were married and established their home in Bethany, where they have continued to reside. David and Cathy spent many years traveling within the state of Oklahoma after he retired. David loved traveling with friends and family and especially loved their time at Lake Tenkiller where he and Cathy made many trips with the grandkids and collected a host of life-long friends.
David loved going places. Whether it was across town or across the state to decorate graves on Memorial Day, he seldom sat still and was always a willing errand or travel partner. His time in the Boy Scouts likely fostered his love of the outdoors and passion for camping and water skiing. David will be remembered as a kind man who would do anything for a friend or loved one. His greatest loves, though, were his family, most especially his grandchildren. David never passed up an opportunity to babysit or take them to the lake and loved being their Pop Pop more than anything else.
David is survived by his wife, Cathy, of the home; children Christine Smith and her husband Jeff of Moore, OK; Brian Hall and his wife Amber of Yukon, OK; Tony Black and his wife Stacey of Damon, TX; Russell Black and his wife Anne of Choctaw, OK; and Tamara Black of Oakland, CA; grandchildren Alex Black, Ian Black, Devin Black and his wife Kaleigh, Ashlyn Palmer, Megan Palmer, Morgan Hall, Kacey Hall, Stormy Woodard, and Vanessa Medina; niece Brenda Snyder, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. David was preceded in death by his first wife Mary, his sister, Joan Hall Woods, his nephew Mike Woods, and his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Woodland Cemetery. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling arrangements. Family and friends may visit an online guest book and memorial page for David at www.chapman-black.com.
