David was born May 12, 1930 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma the son of David Crockett, Sr. and Ethel (Holder) Dunman. As a young man David grew up in Sand Springs and at the age of 17 joined the U.S. Navy at the conclusion of World War II. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, David returned to the Lake Charles, Louisiana area. He accepted employment with one of the local oil refineries and with his knowledge this allowed David to begin a lifetime of experience in repair and personnel management. He continued to work in the refineries and has traveled throughout the U.S as well as to Saudi Arabia, Algeria and Turkey as the lead foreman on repair operations. David was united in marriage to Lorene Virginia (Paslay) in Miami, Oklahoma on October 30, 1973. After over 40 years of working in the repair operations of refineries David retired in 1992.
Following retirement this allowed David to do the things that he loved most. He was able to spend time with his family that he loved dearly. David was very particular about his projects; always making sure that everything was correct no matter what the costs. He enjoyed traveling and taking Lorene to places that she had never been. You could always count on DavidÃs big smile or always pulling a practical joke on some one or being just plain ornery. David was a member of the Local 592 Boilermaker Union, Sand Springs Baptist Church and the Elks Lodge.
