Danny T. Sloan was born May 20, 1947 in Madill, Oklahoma. He was the son of Leslie and Martha (Underwood) Sloan. Danny was raised and attended school in Madill, graduating from Madill High School in 1965. He received Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Madill. After graduation, Danny enlisted in the service of his country in the Oklahoma National Guard. While serving in the National Guard, Danny began training was a welder at Tulsa Welding School. Upon completion of welding school, Danny accepted employment as a pipeline inspector for Koch Industries and then later for OneOK. He worked on pipelines throughout the mid-western United States, including, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Minnesota. Danny was married to Connie Tinsley on July 4, 1990 in Hominy, Oklahoma in the home of Pat and Leta Cobb. The couple resided most of their marriage in Wynona and recently moved to Owasso. Danny was described by his family as a loyal, honest and hardworking husband, father and grandfather who always placed his family first. Although he had a quiet demeanor, he was extremely compassionate and was totally dedicated to his family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his wife, children, grandchildren, and loved ones. His lifelong interests included spending as much time with nature and in the outdoors; he loved gardening. He was an avid hunter spending countless hours hunting deer, quail, pheasant and turkey; his family never knowing what might be on the dinner table or hanging in the garage. Danny also loved to fish. Danny passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Southwestern Regional Medical Center (Cancer Treatment Center of America) at the age of sixty-three with his loving family by his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Sloan. He is survived by his wife, Connie Sloan of the home near Owasso, Oklahoma; his mother, Martha Jo Sloan of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; six children, Les Sloan of Dallas, Texas, Michelle and her husband Mark Hamilton of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Kristi and her husband Ron Hix of Van Alstyne, Texas, Lori and her husband Jody Kerns of Owasso, Oklahoma, Lisa and her husband Justin Glover of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Brandon and his wife Kelli Sloan of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Kaleb, Dillon, Cassie, Austin, Keenan, Nick, Noah, Liberty, Riley, and Lily; a brother, Zanny and his wife Sylvia Sloan of Mannford, Oklahoma; a sister, Linda and her husband Phillip Jones of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; numerous other relative and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Western Heights Baptist Church in Cleveland with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral at the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Sloan, Les Sloan, Ron Hix, Justin Glover, Mark Hamilton and Jody Kerns. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Huffman, Rick Huffman, Zanny Sloan and Dennis Ware.
