Danny Lane Cook

Danny Lane Cook was born on July 3, 1959 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Billy Charles and Claudine (Miller) Cook. As a young child Dan moved with his family from Cleveland to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1963. They also resided in Dallas and Oklahoma City before returning to Cleveland in 1972. Dan later graduated from Cleveland High School with the Class of 1977. During his time in school Dan was an active member of the FFA showing steers as well as a part of the Beef Judging Team. Following high school Dan began working in the oil field. He worked for Spess Oil Company and Precision Wireline. Dan later accepted employment with Slumberger and moved to the North Slope in Alaska. In the early 1980ís, Dan returned to the lower 48 and moved to Longmont, Colorado where he began working for Longmont Packing Company. After a few years Dan returned to Cleveland and began working as a butcher at the IGA. Dan later accepted employment with Skaggs Alpha Beta which later became Albertsons. Dan worked in Tulsa, Broken Arrow and was later transferred to Enid for the company before returning to Tulsa. In 1999, Dan moved to Memphis, Tennessee and began working for Kroger Foods. In 2002, he moved to Olive Branch, Mississippi and at his retirement in August of 2010 was the transportation supervisor for Kroger. On April 22, 2010, Dan was united in marriage to Vera Soldevilla (Hammond) Crouch. Dan was an avid outdoorsman. He loved quail hunting, deer hunting and duck hunting. Dan has spent numerous hours with his family doing the things he loved most in life being outdoors. He also enjoyed going to the river fishing for trout. Dan and Vera have taken several vacations and weekends together going to Arkansas fishing. Most of all in life Dan loved being with his family and friends that he loved dearly. Dan passed from this life on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at his home in Olive Branch at the age of 52 years and sixteen days. Survivors are his wife Vera of the home, daughter Audrey Cisco and her husband Charlie of Birmingham, Alabama, two step sons Jonathan Crouch, Dylan Crouch both of Olive Branch, Mississippi, mother Claudine Snoke and her husband Bill of Bullard, Texas, two brothers Terry Cook and his wife Lynn of Florence, Alabama, David Cook and his wife Jan of Cleveland, Oklahoma, step mother Pat Cook of Cleveland, Oklahoma; three step sisters Beth Wilson and her husband John of Bullard, Texas, Melody Hudspeth and her husband Tim of Richardson, Texas and Marsha Pavletich and husband Bob as well as a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by father Billy Charles Cook, step brother Brian Snoke as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
