Dale Franklin Potts, lifelong Terlton area resident, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of eighty years, ten months and twenty-three days.
Dale was born March 14, 1925 in Terlton, Oklahoma. He was the son of Louis Hezekiah and Elizabeth Christina Potts. Dale was raised and attended school in Terlton. Upon completion of his education, Dale was drafted into the service of his country in the United States Army. After serving nearly three months, Dale was honorably discharged for medical reasons.
Dale returned to Oklahoma and began working for his father on the family farm as a general laborer near Terlton. He continued to work as a laborer for several individuals in the Terlton area throughout his life. Dale enjoyed word puzzles and especially liked crossword puzzles. He was also an avid country western music listener.
Dale is survived by two brothers, Walter Fuzzy Potts of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Bob Potts of Terlton, Oklahoma; three sisters, Maxine Creekmore of Terlton, Oklahoma, Wilma Spencer of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Louise Whittenburg of Terlton, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents; and a sister, Wanda Potts.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 9, 2006 at the Terlton Cemetery with Rev. Dean Switzer officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
