Funeral services will be held graveside at 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 17, 2016, in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will also be in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends and family my leave a memory on Dale’s website at www.chapman-black.com
Dale Graham Carroll was born on January 13, 1935 in Brock, Oklahoma. He was the son of D. Graham and Stella M. (Clark) Carroll. Dale grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and later graduated from Tulsa Central High School. Following high school Dale remained in Tulsa and later joined the United States Army on February 21, 1957. Dale served his country proudly and was later honorably discharged on February 20, 1959. Later that year Dale was united in marriage to Mary Margaret Garrett in Tulsa on June 20th. The couple established their initial home in Tulsa and later moved to Cleveland in 1974, where he has continued to reside. Dale later accepted employment with Dick Connors Correctional in the 1980’s. Dale continued working at Dick Connors until 1997 when he retired. Following retirement Dale continued to working in security. He was currently employed as a security guard at the Tulsa World Newspaper.
Dale was an avid Sooner and Cubs fan. Dale loved baseball and always enjoyed going up to the fields and watching the kids play. He also loved coaching little league baseball and did for many years. Dale umpired high school as well as little league games. His family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was his life.
Dales passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of 81 years.
Survivors are his two children, Mike Carroll of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Melissa Carroll of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sister Helen Riba of Evans, Georgia; three grandchildren, Deana Carroll, Nicki Carroll and Shannon Carroll and his wife Nicole, two great grandsons Jaxon and Boston and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. In addition to his parents Dale was preceded in death by his wife Mary; one son Dale Carroll, II; two sisters Kate Grider and Maureen King.
Pallbearers will include Shannon Carroll, Craig Filby, John Filby, Bill Filby, Kenneth Damron, Sr, James Damron, Brandon Damron and Daniel Kuhnen. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Damron, Boston Carroll and Jaxon Davis.
