Services for Curtis James life time resident of Cleveland, Oklahoma will be held Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 10:00 am in the Sanctuary of the Grace Baptist Church services will be officiated by Pastor Bob Elfrink. Burial will follow on the family plot at Highland Cemetery in Pawnee, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc. of Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Curtis Lee James was born February 26, 1964 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the proud parents of Edward Lee and Ida Mae (Eshelman) James. Curtis was the eldest of five children. Curtis was raised and received his education in Cleveland and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1982. During his time in high school as well as afterwards Curtis attended Drumright VoTech learning the trade of machine tooling. After his graduation he worked at various jobs.

On March 25, 1990 Curtis was united in marriage to Josephine Domopoy in the Philippine Islands. Curtis and Josephine made their initial home in Georgia but soon returned to Cleveland, Oklahoma where they established their current home. Curtis and Josephine have raised three sons Darrell, Brandon and Jeremy which are the light of his life. Curtis took such pride in his children that he attended every game or event each one ever participated in. Curtis was employed with Mohawk Sand and Gravel for about four years before he accepted employment with Aaon Inc. where he has been currently employed since 1996. Curtis was a supervisor and recently started fabricating commercial air condition units at Aaon.

Curtis was a collector of many things and had an extensive collection of KISS memorabilia and comic books. He also loved to play the guitar. Curtis was a member of the Grace Baptist church and the Astronomy Club in Tulsa. You would often see Curtis on an early morning or late night looking at the stars and planets which was a real fascination to him.

Curtis passed away Wednesday December 3, 2003 at the young age of 39 years 9 months and 7 days. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Willie and Isabel James

Survived by his wife, Josephine, of the home; three children, Darrell, Brandon and Jeremy James, of the home; parents, Edward and Ida James of Cleveland, Oklahoma; brother, Carl James of Cleveland, Oklahoma; three sisters, Rebecca and husband Brad West of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Stephanie and husband Tim Roberts of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Jennifer James and Brandon Ransom of Cleveland, Oklahoma; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Clara Eshelman of Pawnee, Oklahoma as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
