Connie Pauline Gaches, lifelong Hallett resident, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the age of sixty-seven years. Connie was born September 11, 1946 in Yale, Oklahoma; the daughter of Luther and Hazel (Ward) Robinson. Connie was raised and attended school through the eight grade in Hallett and then transferred to Cleveland where she graduated from high school in 1964. Shortly after graduation, Connie accepted a position as a seamstress, working at the Munsingwear Plant in Hominy for nearly twenty-five years when they closed the plant in 1989. After her tenure with Munsingwear, Connie worked in a Sand Springs factory making hospital scrubs for a short time before accepting a position in Drumright working for Attic Babies making doll clothing. In 1990, Connie began a career as a grinder at Baxter Pharmaceutical, sharpening biopsy needles. She continued to work in that capacity for nearly twenty years for Allegiance, Cardinal and then Care Fusion until her retirement on March 10, 2010. Connie's life was her grandchildren. She spent her life supporting them in all their activities and goals. She always encouraged them to be just who they were, not anybody else, and to pursue their goals and dreams. She spent many days watching them play baseball, wrestle, and swim. When she wasn't with her grandchildren she was cooking and working in her vegetable garden, picking peas, beans, and okra. She especially enjoyed using her fresh vegetables in her dishes and was famous for her creamed peas. Connie enjoyed watching television and mostly watched talk shows like Jerry Springer and also liked Judge Judy and old reruns of Andy Griffith and Matlock. Connie loved dogs and assisted her mother for many years raising and selling poodles. Until recently she was always seen around the yard and house with her huge German shepherd and best friend, Shelby. Connie is survived by her husband, Robert Gaches of the home; a son and his wife, Steve and Lori Gaches of Jennings, Oklahoma and a daughter and her husband, Sharla and Mark Kicenski of Crescent, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Andy Gaches and his wife Casey, Matt Gaches, Carson Kicenski, Robert Gaches, Anthony Gaches, Kameron Gaches; three great-grandsons, Dallas Gaches, Sebaschyn Gaches and Tripp Gaches; a sister, Judith Gonzales of Hallett, Oklahoma; numerous other family and friends that will mourn her passing. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Marvin and Hazel Irene Robinson and a grandson, Mark Gaches. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Western Heights Baptist Church with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will be at the Blackburn Cemetery.
