Collen Wray Dunlap longtime resident of Jennings, Oklahoma, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the age of 83 years, eleven months and twenty three days. Wray was born July 4, 1928, in Jennings, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Orvis and Georgia (Wooton) Alsip. As a young girl Wray began her education in Jennings where she later graduated from high school as the Valedictorian of her class. Wray was soon united in marriage to Robert George Dunlap on April 8, 1947. The couple established their initial home in Jennings, Oklahoma. They resided in many places in Oklahoma following the oil industry however always returned to Jennings as their main residence. In 1974, Wray and Robert moved to Hominy, Oklahoma. In 1978, they returned to Jennings where they have continued to make their home. Wray loved to sew and quilt. She has spent many hours making a quilt for each of her children for them to cherish. Wray also loved to cooking, fishing and working in her garden. Cooking was probably her favorite thing to do. She would spend many hours baking pies and preparing her families favorite dishes and was one of the best at making chicken noodles. Wray also loved playing cards especially pinochle, pitch and hearts. Her home was always the meeting place for everyone. She would always make sure everyone was comfortable as well as not hungry. Weekends were usually spent at the lake during the summers and vacations were spent on the Illinois River and Tenkiller Lake. One of the memorable vacations was when Wray and Robert drove to Alaska pulling the camper in the early 1990Ãs. Wray also enjoyed helping Robert on the farm feeding cattle. The most important part in her life was her family. She loved the times they would get together and just be a family. Survivors are her husband Robert of the home, four children Robert Dunlap and his wife Kay of Norman, Oklahoma, Gerald Dunlap of Terlton, Oklahoma, Vicki Wheeler of Hominy, Oklahoma, Mike Dunlap and his wife Cindy of Hominy, Oklahoma; two sisters Janet Floyd of Yale, Oklahoma, Pat Eastburn of Seattle, Washington; one brother Roland Caliboso of Seattle, Washington; fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Wray was preceded in death by her father Orvis Alsip, mother Georgia Caliboso and a sister Peggy Mumford. Services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Travis officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
